DCU's Unconventional Marketing Move for "The Flash" Backfires

DC Universe (DCU) has always been known for its unique and innovative marketing strategies. However, their recent attempt to promote the upcoming movie "The Flash" by using Henry Cavill's Superman has backfired.

In a surprising turn of events, the official Twitter account of Superman, under the DCU umbrella, promoted the 2017 movie "Justice League," directed by Joss Whedon. The tweet took a jab at Ezra Miller's Flash, stating, "The Flash may be the fastest man alive, but he is not Superman."

Ezra Miller, who has been involved in numerous controversies over the past few years, has received a negative reception from fans. Frustrated with the DCU's decision to keep Miller in the film without facing consequences, fans had already expressed their disapproval of "The Flash."

Unfortunately, the DCU found itself in another predicament while attempting to promote the film. They used footage of Henry Cavill from the 2017 "Justice League" movie, triggering a wave of support for Cavill and backlash against the 2017 version of the film. Fans rallied once again, showing their preference for the 2021 release, Zack Snyder's "Justice League."

The social media comment sections flooded with criticism and mockery, leaving the DCU exposed to more public animosity than before the marketing attempt. The promotion, intended to boost "The Flash" and the 2017 "Justice League," only garnered more hatred from the audience.

Meanwhile, Ezra Miller, known for their statements about struggling with complex mental health issues, maintained a low profile after facing controversy. However, they made a surprise appearance at the premiere of "The Flash," walking down the red carpet and expressing gratitude to various individuals. Miller thanked director Andy Muschietti, Zack Snyder, David Zaslav, Peter Safran, and James Gunn, acknowledging their support and believing in their second chance.

"The Flash" is scheduled for release on June 16, 2023, in theaters across the United States.
