James Gunn Is Not Concerned About Marvel’s Plans for Jonathan Majors’ Kang, Addresses Rumor About His Final MCU Movie GOTG Vol 3

James Gunn, a renowned filmmaker in the entertainment industry, is best known for his work in the superhero genre and creating the popular franchise, Guardians of the Galaxy. Gunn is praised for his sense of humor and his ability to balance action, comedy, and heart in his films. He will soon depart from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.

Recently, the co-CEO of DCU made a comment revealing that the upcoming installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy will focus on ending the story of space superheroes rather than involving Kang. James Gunn, who now directs for DC studios, has promised a better DC Universe by reconstructing the stories and characters.

Kang the Conqueror, who is the emerging antagonist in the MCU after Thanos, was properly introduced in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. This forced fans to speculate that Kang or his variant will be involved in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. However, James Gunn clarified that the upcoming film will only focus on ending the trilogy and will not set up anything else. Gunn further added that he is unaware of what’s happening in other MCU movies.

This news should come as a relief to fans who were worried that Kang's presence might overshadow the Guardians' final adventure. While Kang is sure to play a big role in the multiverse saga, Guardians certainly deserve to enjoy their time in the completion of the trilogy. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is scheduled to be released on May 5, 2023.
